Abstract

This article analyses political-affective resistance in Carolina Unrein’s Fatal: una crónica trans, exploring how affects (and effects) operate as axes of resistance in the face of cisheteropatriarchal violence. Drawing on the affective turn and the theories of authors such as Sara Ahmed, Lauren Berlant and Marlene Wayar, it examines how these feelings, far from being merely individual experiences, constitute collective responses that denounce and challenge the norm. In particular, it discusses how hatred and rage act as catalysts for critical consciousness and political mobilisation. On the other hand, loneliness and fear are reinterpreted as spaces of resistance and agency. Unrein transforms her narrative into a powerful tool for denunciation and change by destabilising power structures through the revelation of the systemic violence that affects trans* bodies. Through a fragmentary, diaristic narrative, Fatal subverts the conventions of the autobiographical genre and offers a testimony that goes beyond the personal, positioning itself within the framework of a collective struggle for visibility and recognition. Ultimately, the analysis reveals that trans* writing becomes a political act that transforms pain and exclusion into tools of struggle and vindication
