Double-Blind Peer Review Policy

Perramus. Journal of Semiotic Studies on Graphic and Visual Media applies an external double-blind peer review system to ensure academic quality, impartiality, and scholarly integrity in all published contributions.

Type of Review

The journal operates under a double-blind peer review model, in which:

  • The identity of the author(s) is not disclosed to the reviewers;

  • The identity of the reviewers is not disclosed to the author(s).

This model is intended to guarantee an independent and objective evaluation of submitted manuscripts.

Editorial Process

  1. Initial Editorial Screening
    Upon submission, the editorial team conducts a preliminary assessment to verify:

    • The relevance of the manuscript to the journal’s scope;

    • Compliance with submission guidelines;

    • Basic standards of originality and academic quality.

    Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be rejected at this stage.

  2. External Peer Review
    Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are sent to a minimum of two external reviewers, who are specialists in the relevant field and independent of the editorial team.

  3. Evaluation Criteria
    Reviewers assess manuscripts based on:

    • Originality and contribution to the field;

    • Methodological rigor and theoretical soundness;

    • Coherence and clarity of argumentation;

    • Adequacy and relevance of references;

    • Overall academic writing quality.

  4. Editorial Decision
    Based on the reviewers’ reports, the Editor-in-Chief may issue one of the following decisions:

    • Accept;

    • Accept with minor revisions;

    • Revise and resubmit;

    • Reject.

    In cases of substantially divergent reports, the manuscript may be sent to a third reviewer.

Confidentiality and Ethics

The peer review process is conducted under strict confidentiality. Reviewers are required to:

  • Treat manuscripts as confidential documents;

  • Declare any potential conflicts of interest;

  • Refrain from using unpublished material for personal advantage.

Transparency

Authors are informed of the status of their submission throughout the editorial process and receive a reasoned decision. Accepted manuscripts may require revisions prior to final publication.
