AI Generative Tools Policy
Perramus. Journal of Semiotic Studies on Graphic and Visual Media acknowledges the emergence of generative artificial intelligence tools but affirms that all published scholarly content must be the result of the authors’ own intellectual work.
1. Prohibited Use
The use of generative AI tools is not permitted for:
-
Drafting substantive sections of manuscripts;
-
Producing analysis, interpretations, arguments, or conclusions;
-
Generating fictitious or unverifiable references;
-
Creating images or visual materials that form part of the scholarly argument without explicit declaration and justification.
Authorship entails full intellectual responsibility for the submitted content.
2. Permitted Use
AI tools may be used solely for instrumental purposes, such as:
-
Grammar and style correction;
-
Linguistic refinement of text originally written by the author(s);
-
Translation support.
When AI tools are used for translation or linguistic assistance, this must be explicitly disclosed in a note at the end of the manuscript.
3. Responsibility
Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, and integrity of their work, even when digital tools are used for support.
Undisclosed use of generative AI in the substantive preparation of a manuscript may constitute a breach of editorial policy.
